MISSION
The Oklahoma Indian Affairs Commission is charged with the mission of serving as the liaison between Oklahoma’s tribal population and governments and the Oklahoma State government. The Commission carries out its duty with the guidance of four statutorily determined goals: the creation of state and federal legislation; the creation of an advisory committee; the development and implementation of research projects and reports; and the development of cooperative programs between tribes and state, federal, local, private entities, health organizations, educational agencies, tourism, and economic development entities.
FEATURED ARTIST
Enoch Kelly Haney is an internationally recognized artist who has exhibited throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
As a professional artist, Haney owns and operates Haney Inc., an art business in Seminole, Okla., and has earned the title of "Master Artist of the Five Civilized Tribes."
Haney's 22-foot bronze sculpture "The Guardian" was selected by the Arts Standard Committee of the Capital Preservation Commission to top the Oklahoma State Capitol Dome in a dedication ceremony that occurred on November 16, 2002.
Mr. Haney has received numerous awards for his leadership, artistry, and service to the community from organizations representing education, tribal governments, the military, arts and business. >More Information
